Photohunt: Average

This weeks PhotoHunter theme is "Average".

Okay, I admit it, this one is a real s---t---r---e---t---c---h.  I've only been playing with my fellow PhotoHunters for about three months now, but this is definitely my least favorite, and maybe I can say most difficult, theme.  As I have said before, I like to create a photo just for the theme, and I guess in a way I have, but it comes from one I took just shy of 4 months ago.

Hopefully the photo above wouldn't be considered average by most people, but it came from the photo below which may be considered average.  The differences are created by an average of about 3 or 4 minutes of processing in Adobe Bridge, and then a few more minutes of processing in Photoshop where I crop, frame and add my signature.

Ah there's nothing wrong with enhancing an image to bring out it's best . You have made something very nice to look at - a photo most would be proud of. Have a great weekend

I think you have done well with the theme.
I have turned some of my very average images to more with Photoshop processing. Sometimes very seem more beauty in average than we realise and you must have seen potential in your average image to spend the time processing.

Well done re making that photo really stand out. (Incidentally, I'm really not a Photo Shop person so with all my photos, what you see is unchanged from what the camera yielded!)

Very nice and informative as well.

Wow, that is a GREAT take on the theme! I was wondering what you would do, since you are not the "average" photographer! Bridge and Photoshop have brought out the beauty of many a photograph!

Well what do expect when you receive a comment from Norway?

This is a brilliant solution

That's it.

Have a great weekend

Very beautiful. An example of how photoshop has changed photography into an extreme art form. The average image transformed into something ethereal and yet grounded -- thanks for showing us the before and after. Only a true artist would be able to discern the possibilities hidden within the average shot. Thanks for sharing. . .

No photoshop here:

Aye, there's the rub. How to make something special out of something average. I must say though, that the original was a bit more than your average average!

It really was a challenging theme. Maybe not for me so much, but that's because I'm weird. :)

Oh, yes. Your improved photo has moved an average one to superior. Good work!

Definitely above average in my opinion. It's amazing what the right processing will do for a photo.

I was very tempted to go down this road as well. I guess I am a little lazy at times. Great choice, Scott.

I can just give you the average reaction---lovely photos, both of them, and their quality can't be downplayed. I play for fun, but really admire your entries.

I like both photos very much! Isn't it interesting how a shot of contrast can liven a picture up, though? I like doing little adjustments here and there!
