I like to get in and do some close ups quite often. When I found this I thought it really lent itself to some detail shots. So just for fun let's see what you think it is - besides "dangerous". I'll publish a few different photos of it in a few days after there have been some guesses.

It looks like something covered in bees wax. I can't think of the name, but I can picture it.
