A Path to Gorgeousness

Once you embark on this path it is difficult to find something that is not gorgeous.  Zions National Park.  I used Photoshop to drop the color saturation way down.

Don't be shy - leave a comment or email me.  I look forward to hearing from you!

Really cool shot, Scott! I like the way you didn't center the path, but have it veering to the right. The trees and different shadows are catchy; I like the monochrome you chose too. This looks like a really great place to visit - I just might have to go there someday!

The old fence, bare trees really makes this a great photo to reduce the color. You're right,in Zions there is a great photo at every turn.

That is a beautiful composition. I would love to walk down the lane, I bet it's a peaceful journey.

As the eye is led to the end of the path, one wonders what is just beyond the curve. I like the shadows and that you converted the picture to B&W.

As always I really appreciate your comments. I find it very interesting what our eyes and monitors do. Krista said it is monochrome and Linda said I converted it to B&W. I would say to both of you to look again. Maybe click and embiggen it. If you still think it's monochrome or B&W you may want to see adjust your monitors. I can see why you might think that. I looked at it on my laptop and since I knew to look for color I found it, but I probably would have thought it was monochrome otherwise. So you don't think your monitors or eyes are totally going bad I'll tell you that I did take the color saturation way down, but if you look close you'll see hints of color like the reddish brown in the rocks, brown on the fence and small patches of green on the ground. Those white tree branches can really through you off. Thanks again, all of you, for stopping by.

I gave the picture another look. Yes, I do see a smidgen of color as you said on the rocks, fence and ground. I didn't look closely the first time around. I'm glad my eyes AND my monitor are okay :-)

Wonderful composition Scott and I really like what you did with/to the colour.

Although my bucket list is long, I just have to add Zion to it.

Lovely shot Scott. Not an easy light to manage, but you really got the best from it, especially the shadow from the fencing. Lovely blog. I've just discovered you!

Nice shot - and really nice post processing. What makes the shot is the composition - which is my big weakness when I shoot. After 40 years behind a lens, I STILL don't have a good 'feel' for composition. I can see it in the work of others - and sometimes, even in my own work - when I hit it by accident. The most important time to recognize 'composition' - when I have the camera in my hands and up in front of my face - is when I am weakest.

Great shot. I like the effect of reducing the color.
