PhotoHunt: Black

This week's PhotoHunt theme is Black. Crows in National Parks are very comfortable with people and it's much easier to get up close. I think many of the visitors feed them, even though this is strictly against the rules because it is not good for the birds. A few weeks ago I used a photo of two crows in Zions National Park and this one is of a solitary crow in Yellowstone National Park.

This meme is hosted by tnchick's blog and if you would like to see more of this week's photos from around the world click here.

Don't be shy - leave a comment or email me.  I look forward to hearing from you!

I know just what you mean about the crows and ravens in the National Parks. Recently I got a few pictures of one along the Blue Ridge Parkway. Nice capture.

Here's my take on black.

Great shot Scott - I really like the ruffled feather look - that isn't easy to capture.

Have a great weekend.

Not the most beautiful birds, the crow is very clever. You managed to capture this, I think. Never been to Yellowstone although some day I hope to.

That is one handsome crow and a beautiful shot! I remember how tame the crows were at the Grand Canyon. One perched on the back of the bench I was sitting on. I have never been that close to a crow before.

I would think this is a Raven, not a Crow. Still a fantastic shot!

The detail in the feathers is amazing! So neat that you were able to capture it.

I like the new blog title, too. The old one didn't bother me, but the new is very fitting for the tone of your blog.

Thanks for stopping by my PH! Have a great weekend!

Scott: great new look, but I claim I got the humour of the previous one. I wanted a murder of crows, but as you know, I only take photos of myself....and I leave myself open there...

Wow- this is the better than best photography blog in the world! :)

Nice shot of the crow! I was tempted to post red-winged blackbirds...but chose a black cat for good luck instead. :)

Wow, what an amazing photo Scott! I'm looking forward to seeing how many black, ok black and interesting, photos you can find. So far day one is fantastic, how you can take the crow and make it look so good is beyond me.

Chad said...

Scott, what the others can't see is that the raven actually has goose (raven) bumps under its feathers. That was a pretty cold day. Complements on the fine photo, just the right exposure with great detail.

Uh what's in a name some would say. But I love the change (did though got your sense of humour guess I'm much on the same page as you and often wonder how others interpetate -is that spelling correct- my sayings).

Well anyhooowww love the crow.
Happy sunny sunday to you and yours.

That's a great shot Scott! Very clear and superb composition. Judging by its beak I'd bet it's a raven too, but let's not split feathers over this ...

btw - 'Finding Another View' = fav; it sure is.
