Sunset Sunday - 12

Went out to the shores of Antelope Island on Wednesday evening as much to try to get some good shots of birds as to get a nice sunset. Being dusk and the fact that most of the birds were moving fairly quickly I really had a tough time getting any bird shots worth keeping. I probably took over 100 photos and kept about 6 or 7 and the only reason this one didn't find the cutting floor was because of the two birds in front of the sunset and one of them almost looks in focus. What are your thoughts? Should I have tossed this one too?

As always I'm looking forward to your comments and I hope some of you have a sunset photo to share. If so, please leave a link to it in your comment. If not try to make it your goal to get one this week to share for next week.

Don't be shy - leave a comment or email me.  I look forward to hearing from you!

Scott, a very nice photo. Sometimes items being out of focus improve the picture as in this case. I feel it gives the picture some depth.

Chad put up a beautiful sunset this morning but didn't know how to link to it, so if you would like to see Chad's click here.

Lovin' that light path and the birds in the sky - the light path makes me think of the walkway straight to God!

I like your sunset picture. I would like it better with only the far-away bird showing. I love the trail of light on the water.

No definitely a keeper, I like how the birds are slightly out of focus. And a lovely sunset too. Nice shot Scot.

Wow Scott! This photo is amazing..it's just so beautiful! My husband took some lovely photos of the sunset at a place called Victoria Point one evening last week. I think he will probably post some of them sometime soon. Thank you so much for visiting his blog...It took a heap of encouragement for him to let me set up one for him. So thanks!!

Definitely a keeper. I like the sea gull in the forefront - it's almost ghostly, and the silhouette of the one further back fits in well - adds depth as others have said.

I actually managed to post a sunset photo too, shot tonight just after we got home from our weekend family visit.

I love the one being out of focus and the other one in the back. The colour of the sunset is just stunning. And yep I did try to capture these fast boys once too, darn difficult and then not to forget to keep your horizon straight (or did you use a tripod?).

Well I would have loved to share that moment with you anytime. I'm saving up for a new lens I still work with my old analoge ones adn I"m fedd up with them not focusing right....so if you find that pot of gold in one of the next sunsets just give me a ring and I'll come spend it with you...;0

Well after all your kind comments I'll have to tell you a couple things for full disclosure. Some of you mentioned the "light path" or reflection off the water, well, I actually added that. I copied it from a different photo taken that same night when the sun was even lower. Also, Dagmar mentioned having to watch the horizon - She's right, I had to straighten this one about 6 degrees. You guys are good.
