Welcome to another Sunset Sunday. This week's Sunset Sunday photo was taken near Island Park Idaho. Someone told me that in order to get the sun flare like you see in this photo the lens must be stopped down to around f16 or smaller. I have not tested that theory, but we know it does work at f16.

Scott, this is one beautiful sunset.I wonder what it would look like from the other side of the river. This is turning out to be a pretty good day.H/D just called and asked me to take the day off. You'll have to share those ribs with me tomorrow. Visit my site & tell me if you can guess where we were when my sunset was taken.
That IS a gorgeous sun flare! f16...hmmm...I'll try it very soon. This is beautiful, Scott!
f/16 or smaller . . . yep! I have tested it out, and I like f/22 for the most defined rays. But you should definitely test it out for yourself!
I personally love what the sun flare does for this image.
Wow, you get some beautiful sunsets over there. I like how the channel of water leads your eye right to the sun.
Just awsome !!!Great captured picture
A great photo and a nice time of day.
This one rivals your best Scott! Beautiful - love the rays of the sun and the reflection on the river. And the colours lend it a real warmth.
Scott this is so beautiful! What a pretty sunset. I love the flare of the suns warm rays...so lovely! Oh, the serenity.
Beautiful love the sun flare. I was just reading yesterday about how to avoid sun flare. It sure adds to the photo here. ~ Thanks again for putting the info under the picture. It helps me as I learn.
Very nice! Thanks for the tip
(F16)!
That looks wonderful and is something I hope to try soon. Thanks for the tip. It's a lovely sunset.. nicely done.
Beautiful. Thanks for the lesson!
I love the "busted sun" effect so much! I find that I can get it with the larger FStop - you have to be a bit more creative with your shooting angle though, and have the sun partially obscured by something, like the trees or a mountain. I know this because my camera doesn't go all the way down to f16. ;o)
Scott, this is glorious! We never tire of sunsets or sunrises! I like the flair.
I love this sunset it so beautiful and the sun flare is amazing.
F16 must try this next time I do a sunset. (even if it means I need to lug my tripod)
Magnificent! Love those sun rays!
