How Great Thou Art

(f11, 1/1600, 70mm, ISO 160)

As I was preparing this photo for posting on my blog the words of the magnificent hymn How Great Thou Art kept ringing through my head.

O Lord my God,
When I in awesome wonder
Consider all
The worlds Thy Hand hath made,
I see the stars,
I hear the rolling thunder,
Thy pow'r throughout
The universe displayed;

Then sings my soul,
My Saviour God, to Thee,
How great Thou art!
How great Thou art!
Then sings my soul,
My Saviour God, to Thee,
How great Thou art!
How great Thou art!

Don't be shy - leave a comment or email me.  I look forward to hearing from you!

"How Great Thou Art" is one of my favorite hymns. In fact, I requested that it be played at our wedding.

Oh Scott - that's just beautiful.
My Dad used to sing that song at church. I can hear his voice now.... in my memory. Love it. Thanks for sharing!!

This photo is elegant and the real beauty of it lies in its simplicity. It's interesting; it feels peaceful and yet tense at the same time because of the big clouds.

Great shot!

Wonderful hymn, and the photo illustrates it beautifully. Was the bird really there or have you done some clever work?

Lovely picture. Should have a slide show at church while you sing the song. People just sing the words and don't pay attention to what is being said.

Perfect title for this picture.
My husband and son put together a slide show using the song,How Great Thou Art.
Many people commented that they would never sing this song in the same way agin.Pictures sure help us to remember things.

Thanks to all of you for your kind comments. I love this photo. To answer Jennyfreckles question; the bird was really there. The only thing I did to this photo was adjust the color balance some to enhance the blue.

Super beautiful! It almost looks like the bird is swimming through water.

To answer your question, I was standing on a pededstrian bridge when I took the picture of downtown.

One word describes the hymn and your photo - AWEsome!

Also reminds me of my father-in-law singing this with his booming voice. Now he's singing this in heaven.
