St. Patrick's Day - Again?

(f6.3, 1/100, 14mm, ISO 160)

I loved the verdant green of the seaweed draped over the rocks. I knew I'd forget to post this next St. Patrick's day so I thought I'd do it now. You will see more somewhat like this if future posts.

Do not read the following unless you are my wife:  Happy Anniversary Honey.  37 wonderful years.  I would do it again.

Don't be shy - leave a comment or email me.  I look forward to hearing from you!

Scott, I think this is one of your very best posts....so far! I love everything about this image. The colors are out of this world, from the beautiful green to the gorgeous blue sky with puffy clouds. The composition makes me want to look deeper and deeper into the picture until I see something in the left background. Then I really have to investigate to see if those are people or something else. My criteria for a great shot...enough interesting elements to keep the viewer engaged and want to keep looking. O.K. before you climb up on that pedestal, there is one thing I don't like that I've mentioned before. I really think the border in this image detracts. The greens are a weird color and detract from the beautiful green of the image. Are we still friends???

And you better have big anniversary plans for tonight!!!!

Scott, happy days to you and your wife. It's always the man who has to remember (why is that?) and if he does,,,then everyone is happy.

Thank you all for your kind comments, but I just can't believe you read that private note to my wife ;^}.

To my ex-friend Karen (again ;O), What I do with the border is pick a color from within the photo and then color the border. Each one is different and the opacity is adjusted to suit. Sometimes the colors in the background don't blend so well with the mask. I think I changed this one a couple times. Maybe I should have just left the border off. It's not my favorite of the border treatments either, but I'm sure glad you liked the photo so well. Our big plans for our anniversary evening consist of packing for our camping trip we're headed out on tomorrow afternoon.

Whew....Glad we're still friends!!! This does bring up a point, though. Yes, it is very nice when people comment that a photo is great, or beautiful. Praise is certainly appreciated. But I think photogs who are really trying to improve, also like to know exactly what someone likes, and equally important, what someone doesn't like (of course in a gentle, respectful way). At least I do, because seeing my photos thru someone's else's eyes helps me be more objective about my own work. I always hesitate to do this in my comments, however, because I never would want to hurt anyone's feelings, and for many, it's not so much about the quality of the photography, as is it about the experience, story, memory, etc.!
