Where the Buffalo Roam

(f5.6, 1/4, 42mm, ISO 160)

You probably thought you were going to see some buffalo or actually bison. Sorry to disappoint. This is Antelope Island where there are hundreds of Bison that do roam. This was taken last night while the sun was setting, about 15 minutes prior to the photo you'll find on Chad's blog.  As you can see it was kind of an exciting evening.

Don't be shy - leave a comment or email me.  I look forward to hearing from you!

A lovely photo. Actually, the way that mountain is sort of reminds me of the back of a buffalo or bison.

If I understand your post correctly, you were looking east when you took your picture. The setting sun was illuminating the island. Chad was looking west at the setting sun. Am I correct? Great picture by the way, both yours and Chad's.

Thanks all to your kind comments. To answer Linda's Question - You are right that Chad's photo was taken with the camera pointing West (Slightly North West), but for my photo my camera was pointing South. If I had been pointing East I would have been getting the side of the mountain where it was getting the most sun. This way you're seeing the side angle so you see the sun on the West side and shadow on the East. Thanks for asking so I could clarify.

I love all the subtle colours in this one Scott - the soft glow of the sun on the side of the mountain, the clouds, the water ... very nice composition.

Yes, I was actually hoping to see even just a lone buffalo when I read the title of the post. but your photo is stunning. nice capture. I can forgive the absence of the buffalo.
