Hey Kids - it's Phun Phriday! again. That's the day we try to do something different and Phun.
If you've been around a while you know that I like Impressionistic photos. Today's falls into that category. It was made by taking two setting the camera on a tripod and taking the photograph twice. One of them is in focus and the other is way out of focus. The out of focus one is also overexposed at least one stop. Then in Adobe Bridge I overexpose the focused shot. In Photoshop I laid the in-focus one on top of the other and blended them. In this case I set the opacity of the top layer to 55%. There are many blend modes and you can play with them to see what you like. For this shot I used the luminosity mode.
Here is the scene without trying to make it impressionistic.
To be honest, I'm not sure which I like better. I think there are nice things about both, but it is Phun to experiment and learn.
Photography should be Phun and that's why I have my Phun Phriday! posts. Have you done something Phun, wierd and/or creative lately? If so, leave a link to it in your comment. If not - well I'd really love to hear from you anyway.
Don't be shy - leave a comment or email me. I look forward to hearing from you!

I like the second one best, its beautiful. photoshop is NOT phun to me, it is work and makes me crazy, just reading what you did to this photo made my brain ache. keep playing and posting your phun, i love seeing them
I like both pictures. You've accomplished the look you wanted in the first one.
That's a lot of work that goes into it but very worth it. I have to say I like the 1st one better, however both are great! As far as anything interesting lately? Nothing with photos, but I had a blast making some new short videos...
excellent exercise! i like both! regards
I learn a lot from you every time I come for a visit. And I always admire your photos and how you made amazing effects on them. I just wish I could apply those tips you mentioned in my own photo editing. I just hate photoshop and use the easiest software to apply like photobucket where I just click the effects... no more layering. but the effect is so boring and not as amazing as yours.
I love the first photo. It looks like dreamy and foggy and cold... but it feels so real to me because I once woke up to that kind of scene so it is very real to me.
I like both looks, but am partial to the brighter in focus one.Nevertheless it is fun to play with the pictures.
Blessings,Ruth
I think I like the second one better but it is fun to mess around!
I think I like the impressionistic image best, probably because I don't know how to do that & I don't have Adobe Bridge or Photoshop (I use Paint Shop Pro) so the challenge of figuring it out draws me to the 1st one. It's beautiful, btw!
It's really worth experimenting - that misty effect is nice. There's a lot of blue in the light on these photos - that's nice too.
The first photo has an almost aged look to it, as if the color seeped out over time. I like the composition.
Heading off to work, but this time I will have to say I like the original the best.
Hi wonderful friend of mine. Glad to be back (a little bit, still stuggeling with my laptop) but couldn't resist to comment on your latest comment. Hope you're feeling a little better knowing I'm back, yet not really back. I still can't put pictures on my blog so I'm staying a little low right now because it's no fun without pics.
Thanks again for your warm welcome back to me. Sweet hugs and talk soon.
Love Dagmar
I've been phlipping back and phorth between the two to see what I like better. In the phirst photo the phence and grass nearby as well as the trees in the background almost appear to be phrosty - nice effect. But I also like the colours and contrast in the second one.
Nice experimentation.
Love the luminosity look - I played with the colored pencil filter and enjoyed the way my image turned out....
Scott the first photo looks more like it's out of a movie, make believe or something. It's lovely but the second one is natural looking. Both are nice, yet I prefer nature shots so the second one is the winner in my opinion.
Great shot!
