All right children of all ages, it's Halloween weekend and it's Phun Phriday! Not too many combinations could be better than that. This photo was voted as one of the two best shots for Phun Phriday's Halloween weekend post by the NDPES (North Davis Photo Expedition Society*).
Answer to question one: Taken at night and the tree was painted with light from a small LED flashlight.
Answer to question two: It is the same tree that was seen here only taken 9 hours and 59 minutes later and from the opposite angle.
As you know by now photography should be Phun and that's why I have my Phun Phriday! posts. Have you done something Phun, weird and/or creative lately? If so, leave a link to it in your comment. If not - well I'd really love to hear from you anyway.
*It's called the North Davis PES because all the founding members live in the North part of Davis County, Utah but it is open to others no matter where they live.
Don't be shy - leave a comment or email me. I look forward to hearing from you!

LOVE this photo, Scott! I'm going to link to this post on my Facebook fan page. I upload photography tips on a regular basis that I find searching on the Internet. Your post goes well with the Halloween photo tips that I shared yesterday.
I tried to email you but I don't use outlook express.. Enjoyed several of your posts/photos then saw your note about visiting Maine. |My wife and I visited there a few years back.. Sebasco Harbor, BarHarbor, Acadia National Park then over to Mt. Washington.. |Link to video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1qgFdhjOxeQ a little long .. Don't miss Acadia N.P. and if you have a chance Mt. Washington in the White Mountains is spectacular
yes!! this is a great executions!! congratulations!
Wow, stunning shot! Awesome Halloween photo and it's amazing how different something can look nine hours later.
That is a really neat photo. Your creativity is always motivating. Thanks for I need that.
ohjjj what a great picture! very creative, a nice composition! i liked it..
Holy smokes what a shot! Fabulous Scott - I'm sure to be a regular visitor and learn something new in photography...happy Hallowe'en indeed!
I can see why it was voted as wonderful! Fantastic for Halloween or anytime. You do like to have fun, painting with a led light, creative indeed!
you get E for Excellent. L for Loveit and S for spooky... great shot, i really like what painting it with the flashlight did to it. good idea
It is scary and very well done. You will have to take a look at mine I posted today. Happy Halloween!
This is great! Truly. I don't know about you "measuring up" to me, I think it may be the other way around! Everytime I see your Phun photos it inspires me to try it - my tripod just broke, so that becomes a bit of a problem with night photography!
Scott this is amazing and congratulation also.
A very, very cool photo Scott. Have a great weekend and a Happy Halloween.
Very clever - and very suited to the occasion. I tried something a bit different today - and please read my blog tomorrow as I need your vote!
What a great, spooky, photo for Halloween weekend.
A 'phrightening' photograph Scott ;-)
And creative also - nicely done. Congrats on the award.
No scary Halloween shot, but I thought I'd join in your Phriday Phun and posted this contribution.
Man Steve....that picture just blew my mind....seriously. I LOVE it!!
That's perfect for Hallowe'en, I felt spooked looking at it... grins.
That's a great shot. I wouldn't have thought to use a flashlight to illuminate a smaller portion of the foreground than the flash itself would do. Great effect.
great photo for halloween..
Scotgt, this is the best and most creative Halloween photo I have seen tonight. And the fact that it doesn't show a traditional image associated with this day makes it all the more impressive. I also posted some phun Halloween images today.
Love the moon through the branches. I just took some photos of trees this morning with the morning moon peeking through, but not near as dramatic as this! You and Chad were thinking alike today!
This is an excellent photograph.
I feel revelation from the heaven.
It gets excited very much.
this was mystic and mysterious pictures , just a great photo!
this is the coolest!!!
you framed the moon so well....
