Dead Horse

Point State Park.

Photos cannot capture the magnificence of this view near the visitors center at Dead Horse Point State Park, near Moab, Utah.  Hope you have a wonderful weekend and I'll see you tomorrow for Sunset Sunday.

Don't be shy - leave a comment or email me.  I look forward to hearing from you!

Hi Scott, so glad that "Dead Horse" referred to a state park and not a deceased animal! Every time, I check out one of your fantastic landscapes I suggest to Grenville that we will need to take a road trip west one day. Of course, I failed to mention we will also need to do some hiking there too.

Thanks for explaining "ABC" something I definitely need to remember to do!

You had me a little concerned for the briefest of seconds when I read the title of your blog post! Then I thought...na, there is not way it's an actual dead horse.
This photo is absolutely awesome Scott. This world has some truly magnificent sights to behold. I only hope that some day, one day that I will be able to lay my own eyes upon such beauty.

It may not "truly" capture it - but you did a fabulous job. This is gorgeous. Love that you can see the road - way down there....

That is such an incredibly beautiful photo. It's hard to believe that such wonder exists on this same land mass.

I have seen a lot of pictures of Grand Canyon though I live in Finland, but this is perhaps the best one I've seen.

My photos taken at that same point last year were dull and unappealing-very bad light. Even a bit of HDR couldn't resurrect them. They looked as 'dead' as the name where they were taken! Your shot, however, is beautiful, love the variation of shadow and light you were able to pull out of the red rock.

Long ago we went to Dead Horse Point and my son thought that was just what we would find there down in the bottom somewhere. He was content with the story behind the name which I've since forgotten. I also do not remember it looking as nice as your photo either. Good job.

It's hard to tell, but there may be some dead horses at the bottom of that serious drop off. Very nice photo, especially concidering how hazy it was. This came out great!

I love this shot. I just recently took a trip to Utah and it's a wonderful place to take photographs. Such beautiful landscapes. I am so happy I found your site. Your photos are amazing. I love to take pictures but I'm very much an amature. I can only hope to do such great work one day.
