The sun had gone down and the color had pretty well dissipated . I started back to the car to head home when I stopped to take some photos of the pink clouds that were still lingering to the North. After snapping off about three shots of the clouds I was headed to the car again when I don't know why, but I turned back around to see that what had been the last vestiges of some pink on the horizon had become this. I believe I still have the scabs under my chin from my jaw dropping to the ground. I could not believe the change that had occurred in probably less than 30 seconds. Needless to say, I resumed shooting.
Do you have a beautiful sunset/sunrise to share? We'd love to see it. Just post a link in your comment, or just tell us it's there and we'll click on your name to find it.
Don't be shy - leave a comment or email me. I look forward to hearing from you!

Magnificent, I bigafied it to 200 percent. wow shot for sure and you almost missed it.
I did that a couple of years ago, the shot is somewhere on my blog, we went to the Manattee River and looked to the East where the sun should be coming up and NADA.. just black and a little light, we wattched for about half hour and i said oh well, forget it for today, we turned to walk to the other side under the bridge and as we walked i turned back and WOW the gigantic ball of fire was up just above the water.
This is spectacular Scott. This happens so often that the 'main event' happens after you think the show is over. Sometimes it's in the west, but sometimes it's behind you, probably where you were looking to see if there were any surprises. I guess the moral is to stick around longer and you might be rewarded for your efforts! Click HERE for my Sunset Sunday post.
Just stunning.. a realy nice picture.. i loved sunsets! i love this..
Saludos!
Scott,a great sunset. The colors are super, but I really like seeing the sunset through the boats windows. I posted my sunset a little late this morning.
That shot is gorgeous- the reflections and colors are just perfect! Happy Sunday
Oh wow, what a knockout!
I seem to be more into shooting sunrises than sunsets -- you'd think they would be mirror images of themselves, but there is more and I have yet to completely sort it all out. Perhaps it's the sadness of having to call it a day when the last color fades, whereas with a sunrise it is just the beginning of the
"golden hours". I suppose that might be it. But yes, like you pointed out, some really unusual things can happen after one thinks it was the end of the show.
I'm often amazed at how quickly the sky changes at sunset, especially as I'm trying to get outdoors to shoot!
WOW! I love the colors and am glad you turned to look back, the skies change so quick that it's worth it quite often to wait it out.
Nature likes to play! Beautiful shot!! My sunset is here.
Now this one is truly breathtaking..
not to mention jaw dropping.. but I guess you already experienced that..
"smile"
i have one up today...
don't remember how to put in the link..
sorry..
hope your day is just as beautiful as this sunset is..
Hope
My gosh this is incredible! Definitely one of my favorite of your sunsets.
I sure am glad you turned back to get this picture. Everything abbot it is simply magnificent. It's a magical scene.
Fire in the sky and on the water ! The colours are astounding and really bring out the silhouettes ! Glad you looked back - it's something I've learned about sunsets - they seem to go quickly but then sometimes take on another life which is even more spectacular !
Here's my contribution for Sunset Sunday.
incredible...i am so glad you took one more look...
Gorgeous sunset with perfect reflections and colors:)/Maria
Scott, thank you for commenting on my blog. After looking at yours, i;m even more honored that you did. These shots are just masterful ! The lighting in each and every one is impeccable. Thank you for visiting. I'll make this a place to enjoy and learn.
Wow, what colors! Gorgeous shot - and I had to laugh over the scabs on your chin. ;-)
And I know what you mean about things changing fast in nature. Before moving to the country, I had no sense of the continual motion going on all around, of how quickly the light changes, how much the moon and stars' positions are altered in just a few days.
I'm glad you put the shooting information below your photos. It's very helpful for a beginner like me.
Again - breathtaking, in fact you inspired me to get out my camera recently. My sunset shot isn't a titch on yours, but satisfying to start watching for that red glow - it is amazing isn't it? Thanks for sharing Scott - your work is fabulous.
This is stunning and the light is georgeous Scott. You continue to teach and amaze me and I am in aww. Love it.
Have a great weekend coming up. Im on the catch up now.
Being sick has been no fun I can tell you that. Thanks Scott for stoppping.
