Does this remind you of the old westerns as the poor cowboy drained out the last drop of water from his leaky canteen?
When we were in Moab we stayed in the same motel where John Wayne had stayed for much of the filming down in that area. Remember though that was back four or five decades, and the place hasn't changed much.

Beautiful picture.. i liked yes, it seems very dry..
the fact it has not changed is why I like it so much. you are so right, your photos from your trip get better and better each day and i did not think that was possible. this one i would like hanging on my wall and yes i can see that poor dying cowboy with his last drops of water.
What a shot!
That tree leads my eye right into it.
Am itching to go there again some day.
That is indeed a desolate place. I'll bet it would be great in black and white, too.
Great shot
Great composition with that tree in the foreground. It is very atmospheric.
Amazing - Well done
Very cool image... love the elements and the composition!
I like that weathered old tree, maybe a cottonwood when it was alive? I bet it is home for some furry little creatures or maybe even a snake. A great picture.
Each photo just gets better and better, although they all are magnificent. I think I am getting thirsty!
I can very easily see the poor cowboy looking at that empty canteen in this setting.
amazing.
i'm feeling a little parched.
A great scene magnificently captured. And it seems so stark against that incredibly blue sky !
Perfect composition (among other technical aspects too!). Defintely right out of a western. By the way, I enjoyed your information on doors on my photo. Now I'm wondering why they did that...
Beautiful shot and interesting history.
Beautifully saturated colors and great DOF and perspective.
Beautiful photo, Scott. My husband and I stayed at the Apache Motel last year, during a visit to Arches National Park. It's kind of unique place in a beautiful area, isn't it? We want to get back there some day and visit some of the other national parks in Utah.
