Let's see now, it's Phriday and we're having Phun, so it must be another PHUN PHRIDAY!
The other night I was headed home and saw this plant with all the lights glowing and the steam coming out of the pipes and thought it would be Phun to capture, so I took several exposures to see how a night shot like this would turn out in HDR. After processing in Photomatix and getting the image you see above, I thought I'd try to set some of the options differently and so I clicked on a button that I thought let me start over, but instead it gave me the image below. Kind of a HDR treatment to an already HDR photo.
It's probably not something I would hang on my wall but it was a lot of Phun nonetheless.
As you know by now photography should be Phun and that's why I have my Phun Phriday! posts. Have you done something Phun, weird and/or creative lately? If so, leave a link to it in your comment or just tell us it's there so we can go find it. If not, I'd really love to hear from you anyway.OBTW, if you do post something for Phun Phriday! it would put a big smile on my face if you added a link to my blog. Thanks!
Don't be shy - leave a comment or email me. I look forward to hearing from you!

Awesome Scott!!!
ditto on the awesome from katherine. it also rates WOW on both of them. maybe even this is WayCool. my phun post is up, i don't know how to leave a link
Both photos look great, looks like you're becoming an hdr pro. If you have much more phun you'll be giggling all day friday.
Wow, it turned out great! We have an oil refinery in our town. It is worthy of a nighttime photograph as well. I only got to get out there and take it sometime!
Scott, the first image is really, really spectacular. I totally love it!! This is an example of when over the top HDR really works for me. I'm going to look at industrial buildings in a whole new 'light' because of this! (Like the top shot better than the bottom, but like you say, it's all Phun!) I have a Phun Phriday Christmas post and I'm hoping everyone will join the phun. Jump on over HERE.
That looks like Bunge. Where is this taken?
Freda,
Don't know what or where Bunge is, but this was taken at the Fresenius Medical Care plant in Ogden, Utah, U.S.A.
I have dabbled in HDR also. It is phun, indeed. I have set a goal to do more in the very near future...hmmmm, I'm must be in your kindergarten class! Isn't it phun being 5 years old all over again?!
My Phun Phriday is at:

You know - the first time I visited Greece the sun had just set when we passed an oil refinery outside of Corinth. In my mind's eye it looked very similar to your first photo! And that's what I thought of when your page opened. Back then (more than 30 years ago!)it seemed so strange to me that Corinth (I mean isn't that a Biblical town?) had such a plant... And... this was not a shot I expected to see here either! You took me by surprise! Phun, phun, phun!!
Have a great weekend!
Ann
This is phreakin awesome Scott! I don't have anything for Phun Phriday but I'll work on it for next week.
Scott not only are these beautiful, but you have inspired me to open the as yet unopened 6 months old+ Photomatix. Thank you!!
Have a wonderful weekend!
lisa.
I like the first shot the best. Very futuristic looking, like something out of a sci-fi movie.
I think you're doing a great job with HDR, Scott! I think a large part of the skill involved with HDR centers around chosing the right shot to manipulate in this way. I guess the same can be said for many different types of photo edits and alterations.
I like your eye and I think you've done a great job here!
You can see my Phun Phriday post for this week here!
WoW! I don't know what else to say... WoW!
Really interesting results! I've got to try it some day.
I like that first one best Scott, but I'll say you got an interesting and phun effect in the 2nd.
I now have a trial version of Photomatix to experiment with. soon.
Hi Scott, just catching up on posts I've missed the past couple of weeks - so many wonderful shots. This HDR stuff is fantastic, but I am not even in kindergarten and had to look up Photomatrix because I didn't know exactly what it was aside from a SW program. This plant really worked well with HDR. Once life settles down after all our travels - still ongoing - I plan to do some phun things too!
Your phun is beginning to make me feel bad - everytime I visit on Fridays I realize I haven't made any of my own photographic phun which is something I keep meaning to do. :) This is a cool image. That's a great subject for HDR.
Whew! I really like the first one better than the second. Sometimes HDR makes my eyes hurt. But I'm happy to say that's not the case with the top photo here.
These are great! I like the first one best, myself. HDR sure can create some interesting images, and I like this type of look, especially with industrial type shots.
All I can say is WOW! That first photo is magnificent, but the second is also very interesting. You're learning a lot in kindergarten.
Wildly PHUN!!!
Wow. This is amazing Scott. I havent tried this I have to be honest.
