Don't Fence Me In

Why is it that I can't drive by one of these old corrals without stopping to take some photos?  I think it's because I'm fascinated by the fact that even in places of grandiose beauty work still had to be done.  I'm afraid if I was one of the cowboys I'd have been way too distracted by the surroundings to get anything done.

This photo was taken just outside Moab, Utah, USA on the road to the "Island in the Sky" portion of Canyonlands National Park on October 11, 2010.  Chad and I are headed there again next week to find new and even more beautiful photos to take.

Don't be shy - leave a comment or email me.  I look forward to hearing from you! Did you notice? Now you can click below and share this post with your friends on facebook!

That's lovely - wonder how many head of cattle or horses those corrals have seen...

You two cowboys have a great trip. I wish I were back in the Canyonlands now. Still going to the Arches too?

The brilliant blue sky provides good contrast for the rocks. Enjoy your time in the Canyonlands!

Great photos Scott, the colours are beautiful. Our 'corral' here is simply called a stockyard, but sadly it doesn't stand in the shadow of such a beautiful natural landscape. I always enjoy your landscapes, so will be watching for your next adventure to unfold.

Places like this make me dream of the round ups that must have or still do happen at places like this. Corrals seem often to be in the most beautiful spots. You certainly have captured that.

The beauty is both in the mountains and the old fencing. They work perfectly together, Scott.
