I had seen a photo on flickr of a place in Southwestern Washington State called Panther Creek Falls. Since I was headed in that general direction I decided to research it and found it was only about 25 miles one way off my planned route, so I took the detour and WOW was it ever worth it. This is the upper falls and in future days I'll post some from the main falls. It may be the greenest lushest place I have been in my entire life. I was awestruck by the beauty. Sadly photos don't do it justice but I'm sure glad I got a few to share.
Yes, this is HDR, but it really looks much like this.
Don't be shy - leave a comment or email me. I look forward to hearing from you!

I've had not much luck on the soft water effect for streams. Always seem to judge the shutter speed wrong. What do you go by?
Beautiful shot of the stream in this green glade. So shady I bet you didn't even need a neutral density filter for that long exposure.
beautiful and I would love to hear/see/feel it. i can smell the cooler air from here
Judging by this photograph it must have been quite a sight! Thank you so much for sharing Scott :-)
I hope you had a wonderful time away Scott, and if this photograph is any indication of it, it was just beautiful!!!
Love the composition and wonderful softness in this one!
Have a great day my friend!
Just back to say thank you so much for sharing this wonderful photograph at The Creative Exchange!
This is a beautiful scene. Betsy and I 'collect' waterfalls, so we're going to have to add this beautify to our list of falls to see.
Wow....das ist ein grandioses Foto...der Wasserfall sieht fantastisch aus....Kompliment für das Foto....

Hi Scott, lovely to see your comment on my blog. These falls are awesome. What special colours, beautiful. I just got my first DSLR and will be posting my first ever blurred waterfall soon! It's not a patch on this, but I was still excited to learn how to do it. You couldn't do this effect with my other camera. Loved the photo of your gorgoeus granddaughter too. She looks a mischief!
What a great decision that turned out to be! You have done a wonderful job capturing the beauty of these falls!
Scott, I did enlarge this shot and WOW it really is a spectacular scene. Looking forward to seeing more from this place.
Gorgeous, Scott!!! Love the greens and the shutter speed.
Great shot! Just discovered HDR and hope to try it out!
Amazing shot..... i like this so very much.... in big size on the wall..... should be very nice.
Have a nice time Scott.
Greetings, Joop
Incredibly beautiful, Scott ! That looks like a place where a soul could linger a while ... a long while ! To us who didn't see the actual scene, I think you've captured it extremely well - very good use of HDR to capture the light.
Beautiful exposure, love the silky water. And it's definitely worth the detour, surely the actual experience was most eventful !
Such a beautiful shot! I'm glad I took your advice and clicked on it; I felt like I was there.
The composition and softness was so great. Truly beautiful!
