I don't know if you've been to Purgatory, but I have. As a matter of fact we were stopped there, which in this case is along the coast in Rhode Island, when this gentleman started telling us about the unique rock formations and how and when they were formed. After talking to him for a few minutes we found out that he was from around there and now lives in Florida. I asked him if I could take his photo as part of my 100 strangers project and he graciously obliged.
His name is David Mook, and he is a professor of Geology . . . That explains why he new all about Purgatory. Thanks Dr. Mook for the info and the photo.
Don't be shy - leave a comment or email me. I look forward to hearing from you!

glad you made it back from Purgatory. LOL
Lol... I've been to Hell and back.
Seriously, you can meet the most interesting people while holding a camera or pushing a baby stroller.
I agree with that comment in meeting interesting folks, another way is people with dogs too. I am too shy to ask strangers to take their photographs.
You've met some of the nicest people when shooting this series. This is another wonderful portrait.
Too bad you couldn't work Hell, Michigan, into your itinerary.
Geesh.. doesn't anyone go to Heaven, anymore? ;)
very nice portrait!
Both Daniel and George mentioned Hell along with purgatory. Well, I've been there too, and I'm not talking about the time I spent in Vietnam or in Iraq. I'm talking about Hell in Grand Cayman. I'm glad everyone is having fun with this, as I did.
I like very much your series of portraits, Scott!
I love these stranger shots!! Such a great idea.
I agree with Liz. Having personal projects is such a great way to stretch as a photographer.
