Sunset Sunday - 101

Click on photo to view enlarged.

Anytime you are shooting a sunset or sunrise, be sure you look all around you.  Sometimes the best shots are not straight into the sun.  This shot was almost 180 degrees from the setting sun. I've been pretty absent lately due to a lot going on in my life right now and getting very little time for taking or posting photos, but I'll be back soon. Thanks for your patience, visits and comments.

We'd love to have you join in with your own sunset or sunrise photo for Sunset Sunday.  It doesn't matter when you took the photo so join us every week.  If you have one to share post a link  to it in your comment, (click here to learn how) or just tell us it's there and we'll click on your name to find it.

OBTW, if you do post something for Sunset Sunday it would put a big smile on my face if you added a link to this blog in your post. Thanks!

HUGE TIP:  If you love sunset and sunrise shots like I do and want to improve yours, Laura Delegal has an AWESOME blog and she also shares a lot of great photography tips.  Being incredibly clever she puts them under a tab at the top of her regular blog and calls it . . . wait for it . . . Photography Tips.  You can find her blog here and a great tutorial on photographing sunrises and sunsets here.  She did ask me for a few ideas which she added to the bottom, but it was a great tutorial before my thoughts were added.

Don't be shy - leave a comment or email me.  I look forward to hearing from you! Did you notice? Now you can click below and share this post with your friends on facebook!

this is so true, when we stand in our back yard, the sun sets in the west but the reflections looking to the east of wonderful and the same with sunrise, a double show.

The drama of the setting sun can steal the show, at times, but we really do need to remember to take a look all around to see what else is going on in the sky!

Beautiful capture!

Mine is up & ready =)

Love the color drenching into the mountaintops.

You offer great advice here. I almost missed a beautiful shot by looking only in the direction of the sunset. The colors in your photo are marvelous.

Absolutely right, Scott, and your shot proves it ! Beautiful soft glow caught in the wispy clouds and in the reflection.

(I can empathize with your plight).

I posted my sunset shot here.
