Teton Pond Reflection

Teton Pond Reflection by Just Used Pixels

I recently returned from a trip to Jackson Hole, Wyoming USA where I took a lot of photos of the Teton Mountain range, which is West of Jackson Hole. Most of the photos were actually in Teton National Park, which borders Yellowstone National Park.

Sunset Sunday - 110

Click on photo to view enlarged.
Please join us for another Sunset Sunday. This photo is actually a sunrise shot taken this past Monday morning at 6:20 before the sun had come over the horizon to illuminate the mountain peaks.

This past week has been crazy as I spent much of it in Wyoming taking photos and then I had to get a new computer which I have been trying to get set up. Hopefully I'll get everything back to more normal and be able to share a lot more of our Wyoming images with you very very soon.

We'd love to have you join in with your own sunset or sunrise photo for Sunset Sunday.  It doesn't matter when you took the photo so join us every week.  If you have one to share post a link  to it in your comment, (click here to learn how) or just tell us it's there and we'll click on your name to find it.

OBTW, if you do post something for Sunset Sunday it would put a big smile on my face if you added a link to this blog in your post. Thanks!

Above Multnomah

Above Multnomah by Just Used Pixels

Above Multnomah, a photo by Just Used Pixels on Flickr.
This may be considered part of the Multnomah Falls, but it is just not visible from where you view Multnomah Falls from below. If you were to stand in the lower right corner of this image you would be only a couple feet from going over the upper falls, a drop of 542 ft (165 Meter) to the pool below.

The smaller of a couple streams that combine to create the beautiful Multnomah Falls in Oregon. This was taken several hundred feet upstream from the falls.

Smooth Waters

Smooth Waters by Just Used Pixels

Smooth Waters, a photo by Just Used Pixels on Flickr.

I took several photos of tonight's sunset, and this was not my favorite, but I could not get over the amazing oily like texture of the water. I've never seen it like this. And no, there was not an oil spill. It's just the density of the water with all that salt that sometimes makes amazing things happen.

Seen on Trail to the top of Multnomah Falls. I thought I'd better post it before snow was too distant of a memory.

Son Rise Sunday

Officially the name of today's post should be Sunset Sunday - 107, but for the day of the "Son Rise" I had to change the name and post a sunrise shot. May the blessings of Heaven shine down on you on this Easter Sunday.

Multnomah Falls

Multnomah Falls by Just Used Pixels

Multnomah Falls, a photo by Just Used Pixels on Flickr.
If you search for Multnomah Falls on the Internet you'll get thousands of images. That is because: a. It is a beautiful falls; b. It is visible from the Interstate highway leading to and from Portland, Oregon and c. It is only about 40 or so miles from downtown Portland and so it is a favorite place to visit for locals and visitors alike. Of course with all those thousands of images I had to add mine just for fun.

I've driven past Multnomah falls about five or six times and even stopped at the parking area nestled between the east and west bound lanes of the Interstate, but this is the first time I've photographed it. Not only that but there is a trail that is about 1 1/2 miles long to go to the top of the 620 foot (189 meter) falls and I decided to take a hike up there and see what it looked like. To get a little bit of a feel for how tall 620 feet (189 meters) is, that would be almost five times as tall as the falls I posted yesterday or about a 50 story building. Another basis is if you took the Statue of Liberty in the New York Harbor and then created an exact duplicate and put it on top of the original you'd still be 10 feet short of the top of these falls.

I will have some other photos from my hike to the top soon.

Triple Falls

Triple Falls by Just Used Pixels

Triple Falls, a photo by Just Used Pixels on Flickr.
This is the waterfall in the background in yesterday's post with the crocuses. I took a hike in the Columbia River Gorge area in north west Oregon, USA and along the hike were several beautiful falls. This was pretty much at the farthest point on the hike and photographically this may be my least favorite because of the location of the sun and the fact that without a partner and rappelling equipment I could not get at any other angle. I did however get yesterday's shot and there is anther much smaller falls about 200 feet beyond this that worked out pretty cool. That one will be posted soon.

Photos cannot do justice to the size of these falls.  According to what I could find the drop on these is about 132 ft or the height of a 10 story building.

On Triple Falls Trail Hike

In the Columbia River Gorge, east of Portland, Oregon are scores of beautiful waterfalls. One of them is called Triple falls which can be reached by hiking about 2 mles on a well marked, but very hilly trail. After taking some photos of the waterfall I was leaving to go up the trail just a little more when I spotted these beautiful little crocuses growing wild there. I could not pass them up. Watch for upcoming photos of triple falls along with several others I got in Oregon.

Sunset Sunday - 106

Click on photo to view enlarged.
I pray on this Sunset Sunday that all is well with each of you and your loved ones.  I pray that God's blessings shine down on you like the rays of the sun on a warm summer day.

Yes it is also April Fools' Day and I love a good joke as well as anyone, but you will find no April Fools Jokes here today.

HUGE TIP:  If you love sunset and sunrise shots like I do and want to improve yours, Laura Delegal has an AWESOME blog and she also shares a lot of great photography tips.  Being incredibly clever she puts them under a tab at the top of her regular blog and calls it . . . wait for it . . . Photography Tips.  You can find her blog here and a great tutorial on photographing sunrises and sunsets here.  She did ask me for a few ideas which she added to the bottom, but it was a great tutorial before my thoughts were added.
