Giant Sequoia Tree

Click on photo to view enlarged.

We just got back from spending a week with our son and his family and it was my wife's and my first trip to see the giant redwood or sequoia trees in California.  We also spent some time on the left coast in northern California and Southern Oregon.  I found the texture of this particular tree to be totally unique in all the thousands of humongous trees we saw.  This tree is about 12 feet in diameter and probably about 200 feet tall.

More to come.

Great shot. I bet you two had a grand time in my neighborhood. My, it has been a long time since I've been to the sequoias, not as long for the redwoods.

Wow what a stunning tree. I'll bet you hugged it. At the very least, your camera sure did. Wonderful!

Wow! The bark is almost as spectacular as the crown of leaves at the top!
