Getting There is Half the Fun

According to Henry J. Tillman the saying "Getting there is half the fun" became obsolete with the advent of commercial airlines.  I have to say I agree with him.

On the other hand, getting there is certainly part of the travel experience and so shouldn't our travel photography include some shots of that element?

I think our actions are very telling of our thoughts, desires and maybe you could say our subconscious processes.  I've noticed that even though my web site/blog has a section for "Street Photography" and a section for "Travel Photography", the "Street Photography" side is winning hands down on number of posts, even since I got back from this last trip.  With that in mind, I'm going to make a concerted effort to make the next several posts more on the "Travel Photography" side.

This one is of the sunrise shortly after take-off as we headed to Vietnam. Incidentally, the inclusion of part of the window, and the other elements of the aircraft was very intentional to give the photo a clear frame of reference.

  1. It has been a very long time since I have been on an airplane. My husband and I will be traveling by air later this year, to Hawaii. We are looking forward to the trip. Lovely photograph of an up in the sky sunrise.
