Curating Your Work

I found an interesting publication on line yesterday called Street Photography Magazine.  Like I said, I only found it yesterday, but my first impression in very favorable.

One of the things I've learned from it already is about "curating" your own work. I'm somewhat used to "editing" my own work, which basically means deleting the bad stuff, but this word "curating" takes it another step further.  It made me look at it in a brand new way.

I'm going to try to add "curating" in addition to just editing.  Recently I was required to pick about 50 of my best photos for a portfolio to submit for my Church Service Mission Photographer position and that was downright painful.  As I look back on it, it was actually "curating"

Of course, how I "curate" for that is very different than for my Street or Travel Photography.  Does that mean you won't see any weak photos from me on my blog or web site?  Probably not, but it may mean you see less.

I've always liked the light and expression on this one that I took a few years back on the Front Runner to/from Salt Lake City.

Your comments and questions are always read and appreciated. Don't be shy, let me hear from you.

  1. Do you take these with a 35mm digital with normal lens?

    1. Good to hear from you Bill. These that were taken about 5 years ago, like this one, were shot with an Oympus DSLR with a 12-60mm. The newer ones I'll be posting soon here in the U.S. and in China and Korea were taken with a Fuji mirrorless with a 18-55 lens. I'm really thinking of going to a prime for all my street shooting, but I want to make sure I get the right one when I finally spend the money for it.
