Black and White or Color?

First, I'm going to ask you to tell me if you like the color version of this photo or the monochrome (black and white).

Tomorrow's post will tell you which one I like and why.

I'm going to write tomorrow's post before I read any comments so that I'm not influenced by them.  But I will tell you later whether you were able to change my mind on it so good luck.

Your comments and questions are always read and appreciated. Don't be shy, let me hear from you.

  1. Not sure why, but the black and white appeals to me more. I think it focuses more emphasis on the people and not so much of the background.

  2. B&W for the same reason as Bill’s comment. Street photography is one of the few instances where I often prefer b&w to color as it is better at ‘hiding’ distractions, and focuses on the main subjects. Plus in this case, it is more dramatic and emphasizes the “what are you doing with that camera” expression on the woman’s face. P.S. But sometimes the surrounding environment is part of the ‘story’ and needs to be emphasized like some of your previous posts and the environmental portraits I’m currently posting.

  3. Yeah, I like it best in black and white. Brings me into their faces.
